ABOUT JAPANESE HAND POKE TATTOOING, TEBORI
TEBORI is the traditional method of tattooing by hand, that has been practiced for over 400 years in Japan. The tattoo instrument consists of a set of needles attached to a bamboo handle. The needles used in TEBORI are the same stainless steel needles used in machine tattooing.
Tebori is less painful than machine. The skin heals quicker. And there is less inflammation and bleeding than from work done with machine.
You can request one of the following.

Safety
We always use new needles, new pigment and new gloves. The other utensils are sterilized in an autoclave in strict accordance with regulations. This means they are heated to 134 degrees centigrade celsius at 200,000Pa steam pressure for at least twenty minutes. No microorganism can survive this temperature. The autoclave is tested monthly to assure that it's working properly. |

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q Do you speak English? I don't speak Japanese.
A Yes, I do. Even if it's not fluently I do my best to communicate with you.
Q How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
A You must to be 18 years of age or older. Sorry, no exceptions, not even parental consent. Please bring your ID that is available in Japan or passport with you.
Q Do you accept Visa/Master card or non Japanese currency?
A No, I don't. I accept only cash of Japanese Yen.
Q Does tebori (hand poke tattooing) hurt? It looks more painful than machine.
A I don't think so. Most of my clients say that it's less painful than machine. The skin heals quicker, and there is less inflammation and bleeding than from work done with a machine.
Q How long can I do at one session.
A I recommend 2-4 hours. It's up to you.
Q How often can I have tattoo sessions.
A I recommend one or two sessions a week if you live around Tokyo. Some tough guys from outside Japan do 6 hour session for every other day for several times, 8 hour session for 3 days in a raw. These are extreme examples and it would be tough work for you.
Q Can I take a shower after getting a tattoo?
A Yes, you can take a shower and bath. But NO SOAP for the next 7 days. After shower keep the tattoo clean and dry, DO NOT APPLY lotions or creams to the area.
Q How long will it take for my tattoo to heal?
A On average a new tattoo takes a week to superficially heal. After that you can use soap and apply cream. DO NOT GET SUNBURNT till it's completely healed. It takes 4 weeks to fully heal. During the healing period a new tattoo may itch (which drive you crazy). DO NOT pick, rub, scratch or mess with your tattoo.
Q Can I go in the sun after I get tattooed?
A NEVER, at least 4 weeks. Even after 4 weeks, the sun is not a friend of your nice fresh tattoo. Nothing will fade a tattoo faster than sunlight.
